MAZ Digital Provides Easy, Affordable Apps for Print and Online Publications to Move into the Mobile Digital Age

NEW YORK, NY (Jan. 19, 2011) — MAZ Digital announced today the private beta launch of its web-based service, which provides a simple, affordable way for publications to go digital via the iPad and other tablets, e-readers, and mobile devices.

MAZ Digital allows publishers to easily create a branded app, known as a MagApp™, and make it available for download via Apple’s App Store. New issues are added by simply uploading a PDF version to the MAZ Digital website; it is as easy as attaching a file to an email. The result is a branded app that anyone with a supported mobile device can access to download individual issues priced however the publisher chooses. It is a do-it-yourself process that is so simple and straight-forward, anyone with basic computer skills can create and distribute a MagApp without ever leaving his or her desk.

MagApps allow publishers to keep the original formatting of their publications so the reading experience looks and feels like the real thing but is enhanced by the beautiful digital clarity that this environmentally-friendly medium provides. That’s a good thing for readers, and a good thing for publishers and advertisers who can open up their business to a whole new audience while maintaining a lower overhead.

Rather than wasting a huge amount of time, money and resources struggling to publish digitally through other means, MAZ Digital allows publications both big and small to ease through the process and “forget the headache,” as founder, Paul Canetti, puts it. Companies can sign up at to create a MagApp in minutes and have it live within weeks, compared to traditional developers, whose services can take months and cost more than ten times the amount.

Commenting on the buzz surrounding News Corporation’s upcoming “The Daily” iPad-only publication app, Canetti says, “News Corp. believes what we believe, that Apps are the future of publishing. Normally there’s a gap between when a big company like that takes such a leap forward and when everyone else is able to catch up, but we want to give all publishers the opportunity to skip right to the future, today.”

The public launch of MAZ Digital will be in the late winter or early spring of 2011. The company will be refining its system during the private beta with the help of a few select publications, creating MagApps completely free of charge for those participating. Publications interested in joining the private beta can visit for more information.
